For the past 60 years Loughborough University have built their reputation on their sporting facilities. It is ranked in the top 10% in all three national university rankings, boasting excellent facilities available for students, staff and visitors.

Based in the heart of the UK in Leicestershire Loughborough University was chosen by the British Olympic Association as the official training base and preparation camp for Team GB in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic Games. Ninety athletes with Loughborough connections competed, winning a total of thirteen medals and six Paralympics medals (including one gold and three silver).  At the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, past and present students and Loughborough-based athletes won a total of 35 medals, a success so great that if the University had been a country it would have finished 11th in the medal table! And in 2016 if Loughborough University was a country, it would have finished the Olympic Games 17th on the medal table, winning twelve medals, five of which are gold!

Bringing together exceptional athletes, facilities, coaching, research expertise and extensive partnerships with major sports organisations such as Nike, Speedo, Adidas and Umbro, Loughborough are recognised as the number one university for sport with over 400 performance student athletes currently studying and training at the University. Some of the most celebrated names in sport including world record breaking athletes Sebastian Coe and Paula Radcliffe, one of the greatest-ever Paralympians, Tanni Grey-Thompson, and World Cup winning England rugby coach Clive Woodward have studied at Loughborough.

Awarded the ‘Top Sporting University’ by the Times Good University Guide, the fantastic sporting achievements of the students alongside continual commitment to invest in world-class sporting facilities are recognised.  Their focus, community spirit and partnerships with students, alumni, businesses and industry saw Loughborough University crowned as the ‘What Uni’ University of the Year 2015.

Accommodation

All accommodation is situated within the heart of the campus and central to the weekend’s activities. Wi-Fi access will be available around campus for the duration of the weekend. The accommodation is located within the village to add to the overall atmosphere of the weekend with single occupancy, en-suite and towels supplied as standard. The university has dedicated rooms for disabled people with full wheelchair access to social areas. There is ample free onsite parking walking distance from the accommodation blocks, registration and the Student Union.

Food and Drink

Loughborough University and in particular the Student Union have a wide selection of shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, with food from takeaway snacks to restaurants. A list and schedule of opening times will be given at registration. There are lots of places to sit outdoors, catch up with friends, or simply relax. GRAB&GO provides a great way to refuel offering convenience and value, self-serve beverages, pre-wrapped goods, newspapers, stationery, grocery and sandwiches. In addition, less than a 5 min drive or 10 min walk off campus are McDonalds, Tesco’s, ATM’s and a good selection of take away food providers.

Campus

Loughborough University’s superb 438 acre single-site campus offers great facilities with plenty of open space, gardens and sports areas interspersed with academic buildings and quality accommodation.
The campus has the most extensive sports facilities of any university in the UK and is easily negotiated on foot, by bicycle or on one of the convenient shuttle buses which operate across the campus and on into the town and the railway station.

The Students' Union

The Union building sits in the north-eastern corner of the campus, and offers a range of facilities for clubs and societies, retail, entertainment and other activities. The Union has five rooms, each with its own theme. Loughborough Students’ Union was voted the top students’ union in the country in the 2015 What-Uni? Student Choice Awards.

Sporting Venues

Facilities are continually expanded and investment ensures they continue to provide the country’s largest concentration of world-class training facilities and support services across a wide range of sports. Amenities include indoor athletics centre, outdoor stadiums, sports halls, all-weather pitches, a 50m swimming pool, squash, badminton and netball courts, an indoor tennis centre, outdoor courts, and state of the art fitness centres all in close proximity to one another, therefore providing an opportunity for all sports on the Saturday to be hosted on site.
